Panda’s Talking Games 48: Gender

Panda's Talking Games Album Artwork

Show us how you play a character of a different gender? Phil and Senda have an awkward conversation about trying to filter societal gender constructs in to some kind of advice for playing NPCs of a different gender than your own.

This was an extremely difficult topic for us to tackle. We’re pretty sure there are people out there who could do this topic with more poise and grace than we did. Inevitably in any discussion of gender we have to acknowledge that gender is a construct of our society, and so anything we throw out is an implant of how we currently live. With that in mind we attempted to be as careful as possible with this topic since it’s very delicate. If you have things to add or the perspective of another gender identity to throw at us in terms of portraying in game, you know where to find us: @pandastalkgames on twitter or panda(at)misdirectedmark.com. Finally, the moral of the story is and always will be: play characters, not genders.

We also learned that Phil speaks hairball.
